Waterworld, Wrexham

Waterworld, located in Wrexham, North Wales, is a unique leisure centre known for its distinctive hyperbolic paraboloid roof, the only one of its kind in Wales. Opened in 1967 and refurbished in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II, the centre features multiple swimming pools, a lazy river, a water slide, and a gym, making it a popular destination for both tourists and locals. Despite facing threats of demolition due to high maintenance costs, Waterworld has been preserved and is now managed by Freedom Leisure. The centre also has a rich history, having housed the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra in its early years, and continues to be a hub for aquatic activities and community events.
