San Diego Museum of Art

The San Diego Museum of Art, founded in 1926, occupies the Fine Arts Gallery building in Balboa Park that was developed for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. The Spanish Colonial Revival building was designed by architect William Templeton Johnson and is a recognized historic structure within Balboa Park. The museum's permanent collection emphasizes Spanish and Italian Old Masters, 19th- and 20th-century American art, and South Asian paintings.
