Designed by architects Piet de Jong and William Peel Schofield, the building showcases a unique blend of Egyptian Revival and Art Deco architectural styles, featuring distinct elements such as papyrus capitals and a glazed lantern in the auditorium. After serving various educational purposes, it was transformed into a pub in 2021, named after a painting by Atkinson Grimshaw.
