McCormick House (Washington, D.C.)

McCormick House, located at 3000 Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, D.C., serves as the residence of the Brazilian ambassador to the United States. This historic home was designed by renowned architect John Russell Pope and commissioned by diplomat Robert Sanderson McCormick and his wife Katherine in 1908, though it was not completed until 1931. The house showcases Neoclassical architecture and was purchased by the Brazilian embassy in 1934, making Brazil one of the first nations to establish an embassy on Embassy Row. Visitors can appreciate the blend of historical significance and architectural beauty, alongside the modern chancery built next door in 1971 by Brazilian architect Olavo Redig de Campos.
