Narkomtiazhprom Building

The Narkomtiazhprom Building, envisioned as a monumental structure for the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry, was part of a 1934 architectural contest that attracted notable architects like Ivan Leonidov and Konstantin Melnikov. Planned to span over 400 meters along Red Square, the building's design aimed to reshape the historical Kitai-gorod area, but the project was ultimately deemed unfeasible due to technological limitations and high costs. The contest entries ranged from classical to avant-garde styles, reflecting the architectural debates of the time.
