Sons of Norway Hall

The Sons of Norway Hall, also known as Fedrelandet Lodge #23, is a historic fraternal society building located in Petersburg, Alaska. Constructed in 1912 by community volunteers, it is notable for being the first Sons of Norway lodge in Alaska. This large two-story wood-frame structure features a gambrel roof and has served as a central venue for civic, social, and private events over the years. During World War II, it was repurposed as an armory and later functioned as a National Guard headquarters in the 1960s. The hall was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
