Dell founded in a UT Austin dorm room

In 1984 Michael Dell founded PC's Limited (later Dell Inc.) while he was a student living in a dorm at the University of Texas at Austin. The company began by selling upgrade kits and assembled PCs directly to customers, a business model that helped launch Dell into the personal computer market. This founding at UT is a frequently cited origin story for one of the major technology companies originating in the Austin area.
