Gunfoundry

The Gunfoundry, also known as Top ka Sancha, is a historic cannonball factory established in 1783 by Nawab Mir Nizam Ali Khan, the second Nizam of Hyderabad. Located at Fateh Maidan, it is notable for being the only surviving gunfoundry from the 18th century in Hyderabad. The factory was set up by French general Michel Raymond and features impressive brick walls that originally stood 50 feet high. Despite some deterioration, the structure remains a significant piece of history, reflecting the military and industrial heritage of the region. Visitors can also explore nearby landmarks such as the Aliya High School for Boys and Mehboobia College for Girls, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
