Building at 216 Bank Street

The Building at 216 Bank Street, also known as Holland House Apartments, is a historic residential structure in Suffolk, Virginia, built around 1885. This 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay Second Empire style building features a striking polychromatic slate mansard roof and a charming full-width front porch. Originally constructed for Colonel Edward Everett Holland, it served as a single-family home before becoming the Suffolk Elks Lodge No. 685 from 1940 to 1965. Today, it has been converted into a six-unit apartment building and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
