Moore College of Art & Design galleries and history

Moore College of Art & Design was founded in 1848 as the Philadelphia School of Design for Women and is historically recognized as the first institution in the United States established to train women in the visual arts. The college's campus galleries mount rotating exhibitions of student, faculty, alumnae, and visiting artists and present programs focused on women's contributions to art and design. Moore's galleries also maintain historic material related to the school's long history of art education for women.
