Michigan Central Station - Major early 20th-century rail hub

Michigan Central Station opened in 1913 as the Detroit terminal for the New York Central Railroad and was designed by the architectural firm Warren & Wetmore. The station served as a major intercity rail and communications hub for Detroit through much of the 20th century, supporting passenger, mail, and express services. Its facilities hosted extensive telegraph and railway logistical operations tied to the region's industrial growth. The station ceased regular passenger service in 1988 and remains a landmark of early transportation technology in Detroit.
