Palazzetto Venezia (Rome)

Palazzetto Venezia is a Renaissance palace located in the historic center of Rome, adjacent to Piazza Venezia. Originally built in 1467 as part of Palazzo San Marco, it served various roles over the centuries, including as a papal residence and later as a diplomatic seat for the Republic of Venice and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The building underwent significant alterations and was nearly demolished in the late 19th century to enhance the surrounding area for the construction of the Vittoriano monument. It was ultimately rebuilt and has been part of the Museum of Palazzo Venezia since 2006, showcasing a lapidarium in its upper loggia. The Palazzetto's rich history and architectural significance make it an intriguing site for tourists and researchers alike.
