National Museum of African American History and Culture - music exhibits

The National Museum of African American History and Culture, opened in 2016 on the National Mall, includes permanent and rotating exhibits that document the central role of African American musical traditions-jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and regionally specific forms-in U.S. history. The museum's collections and interpretive displays include instruments, recordings, photographs, and oral histories that trace musicians' cultural and social impact. NMAAHC has been a major site for public presentation and preservation of African American music heritage in Washington, D.C.
