Yeaveley Preceptory

Yeaveley Preceptory, located near the village of Yeaveley in Derbyshire, England, was established in 1190 as a preceptory of the Knights Hospitaller. This historical site, also known as Stydd Preceptory, was founded to support the Hospitallers' crusades to Jerusalem and is now a Grade I listed building with a protected moated site. The Preceptory gained wealth through local benefactions and the dissolution of the Knights Templar, but also faced criticism for abuses of privilege in the 13th and 14th centuries. It was suppressed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. Today, visitors can explore the ruins and the 17th-century Stydd Hall, which is Grade II* listed, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
