Gas Works Park (former gasification plant turned park)

Gas Works Park occupies the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant; much of the plant's machinery was preserved as landscape elements when the park opened in 1975. The park offers panoramic views of Lake Union and the downtown skyline and is a documented example of industrial preservation converted to public space. Local residents frequently use the park's hill for kite-flying, picnics, and watching seasonal events such as Fourth of July fireworks.
