Invention of Digital Light Processing (DLP)

Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology was invented by Dr. Larry Hornbeck at Texas Instruments in 1987 while working at TI facilities in the Dallas area. DLP uses a digital micromirror device to modulate light and was commercialized by Texas Instruments for projectors, digital cinema, and other display systems. The technology became a major platform for digital projection and imaging.
