El Rancho Vegas (site of burned early Strip hotel)

El Rancho Vegas opened in 1941 as the first resort hotel on what became the Las Vegas Strip. The original hotel-casino was heavily damaged by a fire on May 17, 1960, and the structure was subsequently demolished. The property at the address remained a notable cleared site on the Strip for years and is referenced in histories of early Las Vegas resort development.
