Cooke's Building

Cooke's Building is a historic Grade II listed structure located at 104 Abbey Road in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. Designed by Howard Evans and completed in 1875, this five-storey building originally functioned as a furniture store until 1959. It later transformed into the Sub Zero nightclub during the 1980s and 1990s but remained vacant for a decade. A significant £2 million renovation in 2012 revitalized the building, which now operates as 'Cooke’s Studios,' serving as a hub for arts, culture, and media organizations in Barrow. The building is surrounded by other notable Grade II listed buildings, enhancing its historical significance.
