Masjid Al-Abrar

Masjid Al-Abrar, located on Telok Ayer Street in Chinatown, Singapore, is one of the city's oldest mosques, established by early Tamil immigrants in 1827. Originally a thatched hut, it was replaced by a brick structure between 1850 and 1855. The mosque, which can accommodate up to 800 worshippers, underwent significant renovations from 1986 to 1989 and was designated a national monument in 1974. Its Indo-Islamic architectural style features two prominent minarets and is situated among traditional shophouses, enhancing its cultural significance. Visitors can easily access the mosque via a short walk from the Telok Ayer MRT station.
