Wartburg

Wartburg is a historic castle located in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany, perched on a 410-metre precipice. Originally built in the Middle Ages, it is renowned for its medieval architecture and significant historical events, including being the residence of St. Elisabeth of Hungary and the site where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German. The castle also hosted the legendary Sängerkrieg, a minstrels' contest that inspired Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser.
