Nutting Homestead

The Nutting Homestead is a historic farm complex located in Otisfield, Maine, along Route 121. Established in the late 18th century, it has been owned by the Nutting family for generations and showcases the evolution of farm properties over time. The oldest part of the farmhouse dates back to 1796, with significant 19th-century additions, including a Federal-style main block designed by Nathan Nutting, Jr., who was also known for his contributions to local architecture. The property features a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house, a barn, a carriage house, and a corn crib, all reflecting the region's agricultural heritage. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the Nutting Homestead offers visitors a glimpse into Maine's historical farming practices and architectural styles.
