Lycée Pierre-Corneille

Lycée Pierre-Corneille, located in Rouen, France, is a historic state secondary school founded in 1593 by the Jesuits. Initially known as the Collège de Bourbon, it has evolved through various educational reforms and secularization, adopting its current name in 1873 to honor the playwright Pierre Corneille. The school features a stunning chapel built in the early 17th century, showcasing a blend of late gothic and classical architecture. Recognized as a national heritage site since 1985, Lycée Pierre-Corneille has a rich history, including its role as a military hospital during World War I and its commandeering by the German army in World War II. Today, it prepares students for university and Grandes écoles, while also hosting a Norwegian college as part of an international peace initiative.
