Cook Memorial Library (Libertyville, Illinois)

The Ansel B. Cook House, a historic Victorian house built in 1878, serves as a museum in Libertyville, Illinois. Originally the home of contractor and politician Ansel B. Cook, it was bequeathed to become a public library after his widow's passing. Following a significant Neoclassical renovation, it opened as a library in 1921. By the 1960s, the library expanded with a new facility, while the historic house was preserved and is now operated by the Libertyville–Mundelein Historical Society. The house was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2001, making it a notable destination for tourists and researchers interested in local history.
