North Carolina Executive Mansion

The North Carolina Executive Mansion, the official residence of the state's governor, is a historic building located in Raleigh, designed in the Queen Anne style by architects Samuel Sloan and A.G. Bauer. Construction began in 1883, and the mansion was first occupied in 1891. It features bricks made by prison labor and local materials, showcasing the state's resources. Over the years, the mansion has undergone various renovations and additions, including a Neoclassical makeover and the establishment of gardens by First Ladies. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and continues to serve as a cultural and historical landmark, supported by a dedicated non-profit organization for its preservation.
