Santa Chiara, Sansepolcro

Santa Chiara, formerly known as Sant'Agostino, is a historic Roman Catholic church located in the picturesque Piazza Santa Chiara in Sansepolcro, Tuscany. Originally an Augustinian convent in the 14th century, it was later transferred to the Clarissan nuns in 1555, who renamed it. The church features a Romanesque exterior dating back to 1281, while its interior was adorned with baroque stucco in the 18th century. Although much of its artwork has been relocated to museums, visitors can still admire a fresco by Cherubino Alberti and a 16th-century depiction of the Assumption of the Virgin. The church now serves as a venue for cultural events, making it a vibrant part of the local community.
