Space Needle

Built for the 1962 Century 21 Exposition (the Seattle World's Fair), the Space Needle is a 605-foot-tall observation tower and a defining example of mid-20th-century futurist/Googie architecture. Its observation deck sits at approximately 520 feet and was designed to provide panoramic views of the city, Puget Sound, and the Cascade and Olympic mountains. The structure originally included a rotating restaurant (SkyCity) and has undergone periodic renovations to preserve its historic structural and design elements.
