2020–2021 Protests at Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse

From May 2020 into 2021, nightly protests and clashes between demonstrators and federal law enforcement occurred outside the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse. Federal officers were deployed to the site, a security perimeter and fencing were erected around the courthouse, and the deployments and tactics drew local and national scrutiny. The events formed a prominent part of Portland's broader protests over policing and racial justice during that period.
