Casa Mariquit

Casa Mariquit, also known as the Javellana–Lopez Heritage House, is a historic house located in Iloilo City, Philippines, and is recognized as the oldest existing heritage house in the area, built in 1803. This well-preserved museum showcases original furniture and photographs, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich history of the influential Javellana and Lopez families. The house served as both a bank and residence, and was home to Maria Salvacion Javellana, whose nickname 'Mariquit' means 'beautiful' in Filipino. Notably, it was blessed by Pope John Paul II during his visit in 1981. Today, it remains under the care of the family and is open for public tours, making it a significant cultural landmark for tourists and researchers alike.
