Niels Aagesen House

The Niels Aagesen House, located at Amaliegade 22 next to Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen, is a historic building originally constructed in 1751 for timber merchant Niels Aagesen. Designed by Niels Eigtved, it was initially a two-storey townhouse made of red brick and later converted into a four-storey apartment building in the 1840s. The house is notable for its rich history, having housed prominent figures such as poet Adam Oehlenschläger, naval officer Steen Andersen Bille, and Princess Thyra. Listed as a protected building in 1945, it features a total floor area of 2,673 square meters and currently accommodates various tenants, making it a blend of historical significance and modern utility.
