The Benson Hotel

The Benson Hotel opened in 1913 after being commissioned by philanthropist Simon Benson and has long operated as a downtown Portland luxury hotel. Located across from the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the hotel retains historic Beaux-Arts architectural and interior detailing in its lobby and ballrooms. It is frequently cited in accounts of Portland’s early-20th-century commercial and social history.
