Spurveskjul

Spurveskjul, meaning 'Sparrow's Hideaway', is a historic country house located in Virum, north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Built between 1804 and 1805 by the renowned artist Nicolai Abildgaard, the two-storey structure features a charming timber-framed design with a thatched roof and distinctive dormers. Abildgaard, known for his contributions to gardening, cultivated an extensive garden and was among the first to grow broccoli in Denmark. The house, which includes a side wing added in the 1840s, is rich in history and architectural significance. Today, it is privately owned and remains a notable example of early 19th-century Danish architecture.
