Wynkoop Brewing Company – Denver's early brewpub pioneer

Wynkoop Brewing Company was founded in 1988 by John Hickenlooper and partners and opened one of Denver's first modern brewpubs in the Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood. The pub is widely credited with helping launch Denver's contemporary craft beer and brewpub movement. John Hickenlooper later became mayor of Denver and governor of Colorado and has frequently cited Wynkoop in accounts of the city's brewing history.
