Lombard House, London

Lombard House, originally known as Sunderland House, is a historic Grade II-listed mansion located in Mayfair, London. Built between 1901 and 1904 for Charles Spencer-Churchill, the 9th Duke of Marlborough, and his American heiress wife, Consuelo Vanderbilt, the house was financed by Vanderbilt's father, a railroad millionaire. After serving as the temporary headquarters for the League of Nations post-World War I, the mansion transitioned to commercial use and suffered damage during The Blitz. It was later named Lombard House during its time as the Lombard Bank's headquarters from the mid-1950s until the late 1990s. The building was restored as a private residence in the early 2000s, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in London's aristocratic history and architectural heritage.
