Lobdell Estate, Minquadale Home

The Lobdell Estate, also known as the Minquadale Home for Aged Men, is a historic site located near Wilmington, Delaware. Built in 1864 in the Italianate style, this two and a half-story home featured distinctive architectural elements such as large decorative brackets and a cupola. Originally constructed as a summer residence by George Lobdell, a car wheel manufacturer, it was later transformed into a retirement home for his employees in 1891. The estate was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, although it was ultimately demolished between 1984 and 2002. This site offers a glimpse into the architectural and social history of the region.
