Pumping Station, Whitacre Waterworks

The Pumping Station at Whitacre Waterworks, located in Shustoke, Warwickshire, is a striking Victorian structure built around 1872. Originally designed to pump six million gallons of fresh water daily to Birmingham, it began operations in 1883 but was later repurposed to supply water to Coventry and surrounding areas. The building is a notable example of civic gospel architecture, featuring red brick construction with intricate stone dressings and large gothic windows. It was listed as grade II* in 1982, highlighting its historical significance. Although the original machinery has been replaced, the site remains a point of interest for visitors, with the nearby reservoir offering recreational activities like sailing and walking.
