Gum Wall in Post Alley

The Gum Wall in Post Alley, adjacent to Pike Place Market, began in the 1990s when theatergoers and visitors started sticking chewed gum to the brick wall; over decades it grew into a widely photographed local fixture. The site became a piece of Seattle lore and a popular tourist stop. In November 2015 the city cleaned the wall, removing an estimated 2,350 pounds of gum, and visitors again began adding gum afterward.
