Otto Brinkmann House

The Otto Brinkmann House, located in Comfort, Texas, is a historic landmark built in 1861 by German immigrant carpenter Otto Brinkmann. This one-story, two-room house showcases traditional fachwerk construction, characterized by its distinctive timber framing and diagonal bracing. Designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1976 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, the house features cypress corner posts and mortise and tenon joints, with exposed timbers on its facade. A notable modification in 1899 added a framed lean-to at the rear. The house reflects the rich German heritage and craftsmanship of the era, making it an intriguing site for tourists and researchers alike.
