Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern

The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is a decommissioned 1926 underground drinking water reservoir beneath Buffalo Bayou Park that was repurposed and opened for public tours and site-specific art installations in 2016. The vast, columned concrete chamber is not visible from street level and is accessed by guided entry only, making it a hidden urban landmark. The space has hosted contemporary art exhibits and architectural tours that emphasize its industrial history and unique acoustics.
