Portland House, Aldermaston

Portland House is a notable office building located in Aldermaston, Berkshire, UK, designed by the acclaimed architect Richard Gilbert Scott. Completed in the mid-1980s, it served as the international headquarters for Blue Circle Industries and was inaugurated by Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester. The building, which won an award from The Concrete Society in 1986, is situated on the historic site of the MERLIN reactor. Despite its architectural significance, Portland House faced threats of demolition after the estate was sold in 2014, raising concerns among preservationists and architecture enthusiasts.
