Workingman's Institute and Memorial Hall

Originally established to enhance social conditions for miners, the Memo has evolved into a cultural hub, hosting amateur theater, music hall performances, and concerts by famous rock bands. It has also served as a filming location for popular TV shows and films, including episodes of Doctor Who and Sherlock. After a period of decline, community efforts and funding have led to its restoration, ensuring its continued role as a vibrant part of local heritage.
