Fox Theatre (historic movie palace)

The Fox Theatre opened in 1928 and was designed by architect C. Howard Crane as a lavish movie palace and vaudeville house. The theater's ornate interior blends Islamic, Persian, and Egyptian decorative motifs and it remains one of the largest surviving theaters of its kind in the United States. Today it is a major performing-arts venue in Detroit's theater district with a seating capacity of approximately 5,000.
