Kirkwall Sheriff Court

Kirkwall Sheriff Court, located in Watergate, Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland, is a historic courthouse housed in a Category C listed building. Originally established in the late 18th century, the current structure was completed in 1877, designed by architect David Bryce in the Scottish baronial style. The courthouse features an asymmetrical façade with distinctive gables and a richly decorated courtroom showcasing the royal arms of Scotland. It has served various judicial purposes over the years and remains an active venue for sheriff court hearings, although jury trials have recently been relocated to the mainland.
