Golden Gardens Park tidal flats and dune ridge

Golden Gardens Park fronts Puget Sound and contains a broad intertidal zone where extensive mudflats and sandbars are exposed at low tide, producing pronounced tidal channels and beach morphologies within the city. The park's shoreline includes a remnant dune ridge and bluffs composed of glacially derived sands and gravels deposited during the Vashon Glaciation and subsequent marine processes. These coastal landforms create unusual beach and dune topography within an urban neighborhood and are used for shoreline studies and recreation.
