Cashew House

The Cashew House, located in Mundakkal, Kollam city, serves as the headquarters of the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation Limited. Known as the Cashew Capital of the World, Kollam has a rich history tied to the cashew business, which gained prominence through the efforts of American businessman Lindsay Johnson, who built the Cashew House in 1935. Johnson's love for Kerala was so profound that he named his daughter after the state. Despite his success, World War II forced him to return to the United States, leading to a series of misfortunes for his business. Eventually, the Kerala Government acquired the building to promote the cashew industry, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in the region's agricultural heritage.
