Rose Terrace (Staunton, Virginia)

Rose Terrace is a historic Italianate-style building located on the Mary Baldwin University campus in Staunton, Virginia. Constructed around 1875, this 2+1⁄2-story brick structure features a hipped roof and six distinctive chimneys. Originally a single-family home, it later served as the Augusta Sanitarium from 1910 to 1919 before being acquired by Mary Baldwin College, where it functioned as the president's residence and a student dormitory. Today, it houses the offices of the Shakespeare & Performance graduate program and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history and educational heritage.
