Northgate Mall interior demolition and redevelopment

The enclosed portion of Northgate Mall was closed and underwent major demolition beginning in 2018–2019 as part of a large mixed-use redevelopment. The Sears anchor at Northgate closed in 2018 as part of nationwide Sears closures. The redevelopment project reconfigured the site around the new Northgate Station for Link light rail, which opened in 2021, and added housing, offices, and retail in place of the former mall interior.
