Cliveden (Chew House) Battle of Germantown archaeology

Archaeological investigations at Cliveden (the Chew House) have documented structural features and recovered artifacts such as musket balls and other military-related materials tied to the 1777 Battle of Germantown. Excavations identified occupation layers and foundation elements that informed restoration and interpretation of the site. The archaeological record has been used to better understand battlefield actions and the house's 18th- and 19th-century occupation history.
