Hermione (Tallulah, Louisiana)

Hermione, now the Hermione Museum, is a historic Greek Revival-style plantation house built in the mid-19th century in Madison Parish, Louisiana. Notably preserved during the Civil War, it served as a Union hospital during the siege of Vicksburg. The museum, relocated to Tallulah in 1997, features exhibits including one on Madam C. J. Walker, the first African-American female self-made millionaire. As one of the few antebellum structures remaining in the area, Hermione is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in history and culture.
