Wilson Building (Dallas)

The Wilson Building is a historic 8-story structure in downtown Dallas, Texas, completed in 1904 and inspired by the Palais Garnier in Paris. Once the tallest building in Dallas, it played a pivotal role in the city's retail history by housing the Titche-Goettinger Department Store, which influenced the establishment of Neiman Marcus across the street. The building features intricate stone and brick work and was equipped with nine elevators and a deep artesian well. After various renovations and changes in tenants, it was transformed into 143 loft apartments in the late 1990s, preserving its historic charm while adapting to modern living. The Wilson Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a significant landmark in the Main Street district.
