Quaker Meadows

Quaker Meadows, also known as the McDowell House at Quaker Meadows, is a historic plantation house located near Morganton, North Carolina. Built around 1812, this Federal-style brick structure features distinctive architectural elements such as one-story shed porches with ornate pillars. The plantation was home to Revolutionary War figure Col. Charles McDowell and is notable for being the site where Zebulon Baird Vance married McDowell's niece. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Quaker Meadows has been restored to its 1812 appearance and is open for tours and rental, offering visitors a glimpse into early American history.
